God, I would do anything for that body and sense of style. I hate sounding cliché, but I just love Kate Moss. (Who doesn’t? Sometimes there are good reasons for clichés!) Upgrading basics like a black jacket, trouser shorts, and ballet flats is all in the attitude – and Kate has that to spare – but for me, it’s her floppy hat that makes the entire outfit. Well, that and her amazing legs!
Tell me a girl is wearing a simple blazer with shorts and a printed shirt and I’m likely to say that sounds like a snooze. Show me the look on Kate Moss, and it’s so chic. If only we could play dress-up in her closet (word has it that her wedding today will indeed have a “dress-up room,” where guests can go wild in her closet – so envious!). Here’s the next best thing:
1) A simple two-button black blazer is all about layering ease. Rag & Bone‘s “Nancy” blazer will blend in with just about anything. At Barneys New York for $450.
2) So Miu Miu‘s charming bird-print shirt might be of seasons past, but Equipment offers a few pleasing print alternatives that result in similar quirky flair.
Equipment Signature Long-Sleeve Blouse in Chinchilla Python. On ShopBop for $159.60 (from $228).
Equipment Slim Signature Blouse. On ShopBop for $238.
Equipment “Brett” Striped Silk-Chiffon Shirt. On Net-a-Porter for $220.
3) A pair of upper thigh-grazing cuffed black shorts with belt-loops is the base for the look. Alice + Olivia “Cady” Cuff Shorts. On ShopBop for $154.
4) A black leather belt with a rustic silver buckle dresses down a pair of trouser-style shorts and brings up the cool factor. B-Low The Belt “Bellbottom Blues” Belt. On ShopBop for $125.
5) Repetto ballet flats have been an “It-girl” staple for decades. On Kate, the suede ballerinas feel brand-new. Repetto Suede Ballet Flats. At Saks Fifth Avenue for $265.
6) A bag that big means major errands to run. Kate’s Dolce & Gabbana top-handle “Miss Sicily” bag lets her do it in style. This abbreviated version is less cumbersome for dashing around. Dolce & Gabbana Printed Calf “Miss Sicily” Top Handle. On Luisa Via Roma for $1,767.
7) The cherry on top, and perhaps most importantly: a floppy hat. Borsalino‘s unadorned velour version is multi-seasonal and multiple outfit-appropriate. On Luisa Via Roma for $265.
